Sprouting in Oxnard This Weekend!

This years Strawberry Festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday, May 18 and 19, 2013 at Strawberry Meadows of College Park in Oxnard from 10am to 6:30pm on both days. General admission is $12, seniors 62+ are $8 and children ages 5-12 are $5. Kids 4 and under are free. Active military and dependents with ID are $8.

Internationally acclaimed Liao Wen Ho Puppet Theatre performs in the classic style of Taiwanese glove puppetry with a cast of puppet characters ranging in design from regal to fantastical. Storytelling: Create a Tradition


The oldest art form lets you connect to your kids in a whole new way!

As soon as man began talking, he began telling stories. It is the oldest art form and for a long time the only way to convey history and education to others. 

What is the difference between reading a book to kids and telling a story? The level of engagement. Telling kids a story is more intimate then reading a book because there is almost constant eye contact when you are telling a story whereas when reading, eyes go mostly to the book.

Take A Colorful Nature Walk


Macaroni Fun

Make your next walk a hunt for specific colors (try this any time of the year). This is an easy project that can be made very simple as your time/ materials/ patience demands.

You’ll need:
  • An empty egg carton
  • Paints and paintbrushes
Paint the inside of an egg carton different colors. Encourage the children to mix colors together or add black or white to create different hues.
